Exercising during Ramadan can be your own challenge. There must be a feeling of laziness ambush, especially when fasting.
In any body condition, carrying out physical activities is still important to maintain overall fitness and health. Speaking of sports in Ramadan, sports medicine specialist Michael Triangto does not recommend if done at night. The reason, the risk is more serious for the body. This is triggered by fasting activities which generally cause dehydration.
"While every time we exercise, we will increase the body's metabolism so that the body feels warmer," he said.
When body temperature rises and is accompanied by dehydration, experts often refer to this event as EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption).
"If it happens at night, then we will experience insomnia or difficulty sleeping," he said.
With the incident difficult to rest it will certainly affect the next activity. For example, the time that is supposed to be used to wake up is not done because the body is still in a state of exhaustion due to difficulty sleeping.
"So, fasting the next day becomes less comfortable and weak," he said.
For this reason, nighttime exercise is not recommended during fasting. Meanwhile, the afternoon before breaking time is more permissible.
"Because if you are thirsty or hungry due to exercise, everything can be overcome because the time is close to breaking the fast," he said.
