Three Types of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) People
Gus Dur's house had always been in the Ciganjur area, South Jakarta, and his guests were never empty from day to day. From morning to night. In fact, not infrequently until early morning these guests come and go both from among the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) or not. They also come from many cities. Especially for NU residents, they usually visited Gus Dur's house after visiting a number of graves and meeting many Kyai.
Describing his guests who were from NU circles, Gus Dur once said, there were three types of NU people.
"If they come from 07.00 - 21.00 and tell about NU, it is usually NU people who are committed and fanatical about NU," Gus Dur said.
There is also a second type, those who, even though it was late at night, around 9:00 PM - 1:00 PM, still knocked on Gus Dur's door and talked about NU. "This is called NU crazy people," he said.
"Then the third, if there is an NU person who still knocks on my door at two in the morning until six in the morning, that is the name of a crazy NU person," Gus Dur said with a chuckle.
