Islam and Women
Talking about women means talking about the future of world civilization. Women become a symbol of whether or not a civilization.
When Islam came, it was the verse which required every Muslim to wear the hijab for the first time. Not just any verse. This order is translated as a form of respect for Islam towards women.
Women are considered valuable and must be protected in order to be a mirror that reflects the pure light of Islam. This is what is called affirmative action which is not just based on emotion towards equality, but comes from his love for women.
Reflecting on the sahabiyah who at the time of issuing the mandatory headscarf hastily to implement it, is really a counter to the current situation of Indonesian women. Women are seen as merely satisfying their desires, goods which are only to be enjoyed without being appreciated and there are still many who think that women are nothing more than items that can be bought.
It's an astounding reality considering that Indonesia has a population of women more than men. The position of women is still not as a subject that must be fulfilled their rights, but only as an object of the regulation that is used as a scapegoat that this country has placed the rights that should be for a woman.
Do not expect a country that does not concretely solve a problem. Just carry out the obligation without seeing the essence of the issuance of a regulation. So, Islam appears as a solution. Islam is not a State, it is not a territory nor is it a custom that restricts people from obeying it.
Islam is a value which is settled. Comprehensive and present in every niche of life as a seed of benefit for all nature. Thus, Islam is a solution to the problems of women who have not been accommodated in their interests. Look at how Islam places the position of women on a par with men on the path of devotion:
And do not be jealous of the gift that Allah has sent to some of you other parts. Because for men there is a part of what they are trying to do, and for women there is also a part of what they are working for. Ask God for some of His gifts. truly, Allah is All-Knowing. (QS.An-Nisa ': 32)
From this verse it can be explained that Islam views men and women alike in seeking good for themselves. Every sacrifice of men will be respected according to what they sacrifice, so will women. In the end, women also have the same opportunity to get better rewards.
Islam provides equal opportunities for women to study, as Aisha was a hadith expert who was made a reference for her friends. Another privilege is giving birth is a jihad for a woman, giving birth and being a mother are things that can lead a woman to get a higher position than women who do not carry out their role with sincerity.
The role of being a wife and mother is a form of protection so that women maintain their female rights. It is recommended that women prefer prayer at home rather than in the mosque is another form of protection so that women are not contaminated with values that damage their honor.
Now, which side of Islam does not protect women? Islam is much more implementing affirmative action against women before feminists echo it.
Indonesian women must understand the nature of their existence and how to practice Islam properly because Islam is the only one who understands women.
With this understanding, no cases of sexual harassment, rape, labor rights abuses, unfair treatment from the community and other forms of discrimination will not be heard.
As men are placed to have an advantage over something, women in Islam are seen as having more value as a parameter of a civilization. Not only in this ideological country of Pancasila, but also in the world.
