The Prophet's Prayer for Covid-19 Patients to Read
People who tested positive for Covid-19 were advised to follow medical protocols related to the treatment of corona virus patients. He must undergo extra and intensive care so that his immunity increases.
The following are alternative pronunciations recommended by Rasulullah SAW for seriously ill patients. This prayer was narrated by Imam Muslim from Anas RA's best friend. (Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, Badzlul Ma‘un fi Fadhlit Tha‘un, [Riyadh, Darul Ashimah: no year], pages 327-328).
Allāhumma ahyinī mā kānatil hayātu khairan lī, wa tawaffanī mā kānatil wafātu khairan lī.
It means, "O God, live (heal) me as long as life is good for me and remember me if it is good for me." Covid-19 patients in the treatment are encouraged to surrender, resignation, and understand that the calamity that is happening to him is God's provision that can not be mistaken. Whereas His provisions which were not intended for him would not be possible to miss him. If given a cure, Covid-19 patients are encouraged to be grateful. If still in treatment, he must be patient. (Al-Asqalani, without the year: 327).
He is also encouraged to increase the number of dhikr, especially forgiveness and prayer beads. The following are some alternative pronunciations that can be read by Covid-19 patients.
1. Reciting istighfar of the Prophet Adam and Siti Eve.
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسرِي
Rabbanā zhalamnā anfusanā. Wa illam taghfir lanā wa tarhamnā, lanakūnanna minal khāsirīna.
It means, "O our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If you do not forgive and love us, surely we belong to your servant who loses, "(Surat Al-A‘raf verse 23).
2. Reciting the chaplet of the regret of the Prophet Yunus AS.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Lā ilāha illā anta. Subhānaka innī kuntu minaz zhālimīna.
It means, "There is no god but Allah. Blessed be You. Indeed, I was one of those who persecuted, "(Surat Al-Anbiya verse 87).
3. Recitation of forgiveness taught by Rasulullah SAW.
اللهم إني ظلمت نفسي ظلما كثيرا, ولا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت, فاغفر لي مغفرة من عندك, وارحمني, إنك أنت الغفور الرحيم
Allāhumma innī zhalamtu nafsī zhulman katsīran (recorded "kabīran" in some narrations), wa lā yaghfirud dzunūba illā anta, faghfir lī maghfiratan min ‘indika, warhamnī, innaka antal ghafūrur your rah rah. It means, "My Lord, truly I have wronged myself with a great deal of persecution (a portion of the‘ great ’history). No one can forgive him except You. Give forgiveness from your side. Bless me Really, you are merciful, more merciful, "(HR Bukhari and Muslim). Allah knows best.
